What Type of Restoration is Most Suitable for You?

If you are dealing with one or more missing, damaged, or decayed teeth, your treatment plan will likely include a restoration. Dental restorations are designed to repair the structure of a tooth or replace missing teeth, offering benefits for oral health, appearance, and confidence in your smile.

At Castaic Dental Center, we offer a variety of restorative services, including:

Dental Implants to Restore Your Smile

Dental implants serve as artificial tooth roots implanted into your jaw to support replacement teeth. This method enables seamless replacement of missing teeth and provides a durable alternative to removable dentures. With dental implants, you attain a smile that looks and feels entirely natural.

Although the process of receiving dental implants is straightforward, it unfolds over several months. Following treatment, as your mouth heals, we proceed to secure your new teeth in place.

Composite Fillings to Mend Damaged Teeth

Composite fillings are utilized to restore teeth affected by decay, cracks, or fractures. They are crafted to match the natural color of your teeth, seamlessly blending in with adjacent healthy teeth. This feature proves especially beneficial for repairing front teeth and other visible areas of your smile.

At Castaic Dental Center, we also offer amalgam fillings, and we encourage you to explore your options to determine the most suitable choice for your needs.

How Do Dental Crowns Work?

A crown, often referred to as a “dental cap,” is a protective covering placed over an entire tooth to restore its original shape. Crowns are utilized when smaller restorations, like fillings, are insufficient to repair the damage. At Castaic Dental Center, we offer premium porcelain crowns designed to seamlessly match the color of your healthy teeth. With porcelain crowns, we can not only safeguard your teeth but also enhance your natural smile simultaneously.

A dental crown procedure typically involves two appointments. During the initial appointment, we take multiple impressions of your teeth, which are then utilized to fabricate a custom-fitted crown. To maintain tooth protection while awaiting the custom crown’s completion, we provide a temporary crown immediately. The custom crown is typically produced within approximately two weeks at a dental laboratory. At your second appointment, we remove the temporary crown, cleanse the underlying tooth, and permanently cement your custom crown in place.

The Basics of Dentures & Partial Dentures

We provide two types of dentures tailored to suit your specific needs. Complete dentures are recommended when all of your teeth are missing, while partial dentures are suitable when some of your natural, healthy teeth remain. Partial dentures are designed to fill the gaps created by missing teeth, preventing adjacent teeth from shifting over time and thereby preserving as much of your natural smile as possible.

Dentures are custom-made at a dental laboratory following the removal of unhealthy teeth and the healing of gum tissue. Once the dental lab has completed the fabrication of your dentures, we perform adjustments and carefully place them to ensure a comfortable and secure fit for you.

What Are Fixed Bridges?

A fixed dental bridge is a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. Typically made from materials such as porcelain or porcelain-fused-to-metal, it consists of a pair of crowns placed over natural teeth on either side of the gap, with artificial teeth suspended between them. This traditional bridge design can effectively replace up to three missing teeth in a row.

The installation of a fixed bridge usually entails at least two appointments. During your initial visit, we take impressions of your teeth and jaw, and then proceed to fabricate and install temporary crowns. On the subsequent visit, we verify the proper fit of the permanent bridge before securely affixing it in place.

Root Canal Therapy to Save Your Smile

Root canal therapy is a procedure aimed at preserving a tooth affected by decay or infection. To salvage the tooth, the infected or decayed pulp, the living tissue inside the tooth, is surgically removed. The space left behind is then filled with medicated dental materials to fully restore the affected tooth.

This approach eliminates the need for tooth replacement procedures. While we handle straightforward root canals in our office, complex root canal procedures are referred to a trusted endodontist.
